Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing package is an incredible combination of the possible adventures found in the Khumbu region of Nepal: trekking and climbing. You have the opportunity to participate in both in a world-class environment. The trip begins with the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Then, we trek through the Khumbu Valley, exploring its natural and cultural diversities. We take a day in Namche Bazaar, the trading and tourism center of the area. We stop for acclimatization and exploration day there. We continue to Tengboche, visiting its massive monastery, and then to Dingboche, GorakShep, and eventually to Everest Base Camp. After taking in the incredible views of the surrounding peaks, we will climb Kalapatter, then descend to Periche and Chukkung. Then, we reach Island Peak Base Camp and stay there for the night. We wake up the next morning to climb to the summit. The climb is exciting, but challenging enough that a beginner could participate. It may take an extra day or two, depending on the weather. Following the icy trail of Island Peak, you reach the summit (6189 meters), which is an incredible viewpoint of the top of the world, Mt. Everest (8848 meters), as well as Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Amadablam and the surrounding peaks. Following the same trail, we climb down to Island Peak Base Camp and trek at a leisurely pace all the way to Lukla.
As is the case more most treks in the area, Spring and Autumn are the best seasons for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing package. The trek requires good fitness and acclimatization to avoid acute mountain sickness. Ascent Holidays arranges the trek with complete management, including Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, TIMS and Island Peak Climbing Permit.
