Mardi Himal Trek is an exciting excursion through the isolated trails of the Annapurna region. It is located just east of one of the most popular treks in Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The area is relatively untouched and viewed as virgin territory that trekkers find amazing to walk through and observe the diverse sceneries and equally the cultural explorations. From rhododendron forests to rugged high-mountain landscapes, the Mardi Himal Trek is nothing short of impressive. It is a recently introduced trail, which is perfect for the isolated trail lovers. As other treks have heavier foot traffic, Mardi Himal Trek is off the beaten path, though beginning to gain notoriety.
The trek to Mardi Himal begins from Kande, after driving from Pokhara, a town surrounded by the lakes and located in the bosom of Mt. Fishtail. As the journey begins, the picturesque scenery can immediately be observed. The journey goes through the sub-tropical oak and rhododendron forest and the rocky slope. On the alpine level, it is dominated by the grazing meadows, which are slightly slippery, depending on the season. Mid-September-November is the best season to trek, although May-June is a beautiful time, as the flowers are beginning to bloom. It is possible to trek from late June-early Septembe, though you risk facing monsoon rains and leeches.
Because the trek passes through villages, you have the privilege of experiencing the hospitality of the ethnic groups. The Mardi Himal Base Camp offers a spectacular view of the Annapurna chain. This is a moderate trek, allowing for the exploration of Mt. Fishtail, Mardi Himal and the surrounding white peaks.
